B.Sc in Microbiology

The fields of Microbiology and Immunology encompass many aspects of human health and a goal of our research is to further the basic understanding of microbes and the immune system, as well as translate this knowledge into improvement of human health. Therefore, our educational curriculum provides the opportunity to learn about fundamental mechanisms of microbiology and immunology, as well as the clinical aspects of these disciplines.

Higher study facilities

Microbiology is the branch of science dealing with microorganisms. It is one of the most relevant, dynamic and exciting disciplines in the biological sciences. Microbiology has become an umbrella term that encompasses many sub disciplines or fields of study, including bacteriology (the study of bacteria), mycology (the study of fungi), parasitology (the study of parasites) and virology (the study of viruses).

In any university, public or private, this is one of the top most disciplines for which best students fight for admission.

Students graduated from the Department of Microbiology can Continue their post graduation from various reputed public universities like University of Dhaka, University of Rajshahi, Chittagong University, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Islamic University etc.

Message from the Head of the Department

    Departmental Head
    Dr. Md. Fuad Hossain
    Assistant Professor/ Head of Department

Welcome to the Microbiology Community !!!

It is with great pleasure and anticipation that I take on the role of Head of the Department of Microbiology. The Department has a strong commitment to excellence in both teaching and research. This includes teaching undergraduate modules for Medical, Nursing and Basic Science (Agriculture, Food Science and Technology, Microbiology) students. The faculty members are very active and successful in research, bringing the latest knowledge to their lectures and practical lab classes.

The faculty has research programmes covering many aspects of Microbiology and Immunology. There is a strong focus on pathogen biology and host-pathogen interactions in viral, bacterial, and protozoal diseases present in Bangladesh. The faculty has an excellent track record in obtaining external grant funding for their research, in training graduate students, and in publishing their results in high-impact journals. We anticipate even greater success in the future.
