Anowara College of Bio Science(ACBS), being the leading private College in northern Bangladesh has come up to take the challenge of this crucial issue and opened the Department of Food Science and Technology) with an aim to provide skilled and educated manpower in this area to cater the need of the ever expanding /fast growing food processing industries of Bangladesh.There are thirteen full-time faculty members in the Department, including 2015Prime Minister Gold Medal winner, Majbaul Alam, myself served as Department Head in this institution.

The World in general and the developing countries like Bangladesh in Particular is now facing the serious problem of ensuring safe, nutritious and cheap food to cater the need of the common people. This has necessitated the service of huge number of skilled and educated manpower in the field of Food Science and Technology.To meet the requirements for well qualified and trained manpower for this fast growing industry, a need is felt for starting of the B. Sc. (Food Science and Technology) degree program.

This degree program offers various courses in specialized areas of Food and Nutritional Science, Food Processing Technology, Food and Industrial Microbiology, Food Engineering and Food Trade and Business Management in addition to basic and advance courses in related areas. Importance is given to both for theoretical as well as practical knowledge.
The Head of the Department feels complacent to say that this department is an integrated one comprising of some best academics and staffs from different corners of the country. Here, we are not only conducting excellent academic researches, but also delivering the practical outcomes for society. I feel a great sense of both excitement and responsibility in leading this department, for the fact, it has pivotal issues such as energy, new products development, food safety and quality assurance, healthcare and manufacturing. My aim is to do everything I can to allow everyone here to perform their best, engage themselves with real issues and make a difference.
